Maker: Unknown, but handmade. Approx. Age: Late 1800s (1875 has been suggested). Size: Approx. 4’ wide by 9’ tall and 2’ deep. Additional Info: Albert Dewitt Garrett (1861 - 1928) was such an important figure in the development of New Mexico Territory (specifically Chaves Co.), he is mentioned on pages 810 - 811 of the History of New Mexico, Vol. II, published in 1907 (an original, first edition copy is included). Also included are a set of encyclopedias from 1893 with lambskin covers. This desk and the books included were the personal property of Mr. Garrett and it has been in his family from the time it was purchased in the late 1800s till now. Also included are family momentous of Mr. Garrett and an antique swivel, desk chair. Condition: Desk is pretty good for its age, normal wear expected. Books are fair to poor. Photos and letters are copies of the originals that belonged to the family. Please look closely at the pictures - they are an important part of our description.
