<B>1800 S$1 VF35 ANACS.</B></I> B-16, BB-187, R.2. Die State III. Die dot below left serif of E, others join tops of RT; reverse die flaws over ES and right; right base of F touches cloud. The B-16 dollar is one of just three common die varieties for the year, along with B-17 and B-19. These three varieties are the most appropriate choices for date or type collectors, although B-19 is a special <I>Guide Book</B></I> variety. This specimen is rather late in the die state progression of this variety with a curved die crack past the right side of the final 0 to the drapery, the chin, and the right obverse field to star 10. The reverse die chips at ES are advanced and heavy. Probably cleaned, yet with attractive light gray surfaces and pale gold toning. Evidence of mint luster is still visible on each side. A small patch of adjustment marks crosses the clouds below OF.
