1800<S$1> Normal Dies. B-16, BB-187, R.2. XF45 NGC. Die dot between left base of E and point of curl; T of UNITED doubled below base. Reiver die state b. Bowers-Borckardt die state III. This coin is very bright and lustrous, with no signs of toning. The strike is average for the variety, with slight weakness on the upper curls of Liberty and on the right wing of the eagle. Extensive die rust is found on the reverse die in the upper right quadrant which shows as raised lumps on this coin. Die rust is a common problem from this period, and many dies show evidence of the humid weather. Identifiable by a tiny rough area just below the ribbon knot in the field and a low area on the edge above LI. A later die state with a horizontal die crack at the base of the 18 in the date, another complex die crack through the right side of the second 0, up Liberty's chest, touching her chin and curling to star ten.
Ex: Jim McGuigan (March, 1987). Envelope Included.
