1800<S$1> 12 Arrows. B-17, BB-196, R.3--Improperly Cleaned--NCS. VF Details. Diagonal die line at left base of 1; Cloud space left of center below E, leaf below left upright of I. Reiver die state B-17. Bowers-Borckardt die state III. This is the Reiver plate coin for the obverse and reverse of the variety. Examination of this coin notes the usual clash marks above Liberty's chest and through OF which are nearly always found on this die pairing. Additional clash marks are seen near the reverse branch from Liberty's forehead and face. The surfaces of this coin have been cleaned and we note some surface roughness on the right side of the reverse, perhaps where a rubber band etched into the silver. The obverse die displays some thin die cracks, one from star six to Liberty's ribbon at the top into her hair, one touching the lower points of the first star into the field above, another just below which climbs into Liberty's hair through the second curl up from the bottom and one on the reverse connecting the second feather down on the right wing of the eagle to the rim. The lowest curl of Liberty is clashed on the reverse which appears as a short line connecting the base of AT of STATES and this continues into the cloud below the post of that T. On the reverse there is also a very light crack from the rim down to AM to AMERICA to the field below.
Ex: Julian Leidman (April, 1979). Envelope Included.
