1800 H10C MS65 NGC. V-1, LM-1, R.3. This variety has LIBERTY spelled correctly. The date is widely and evenly spaced with the digit 1 centered over a single dentil. LIBERTY is also evenly spaced. Stars on the left side are all well-spaced as are the stars on the right. Star 1 is close to the second curl and star 7 is distant from L. Star 8 is slightly closer to Y (than star 7 to L) and star 13 is similarly close to the bust.
The reverse has a leaf joined to the outer left base of the final A and another leaf solidly joined to the right base of I. The outside arrowhead ends at the extreme left base of N, and the longest arrowhead ends below the center of that letter. Stars 1 through 4 in the top row are each separated from clouds while stars 5 and 6 each lightly touch a cloud. The eagle's upper beak comes down to join star 12 between two points. This star just misses touching the lower beak, and joins the scroll over the outside left serif of U. The I in UNITED and the I in AMERICA are each centered beneath a single dentil.
The obverse of this specimen has only light clash marks. The reverse has a hairline die crack from M to the eagle's wing and shield, continuing faintly through the left reverse field to I of UNITED.
This is the most common die marriage among 1800 half dimes, with four known varieties described in the standard reference. The example that is offered here is a remarkable Gem that should easily please the specialist. The upper obverse and lower reverse are somewhat weak, but all other design elements are boldly defined. It is a well-centered impression with full obverse and reverse borders. Both sides have brilliant silver color at the centers, surrounded by pale gold and vibrant sea-green toning. Census: 5 in 65, 3 finer (4/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
