<B>1800 $5 AU53 PCGS.</B></I> Breen-6439, BD-4, R.4. The "Blundered M" (in AMERICA) variety, which Breen (1988) states is an "M over much larger M." The die state is as interesting as the variety, since reverse cuds are present above the IT in UNITED and the first T in STATES. An evaluation of past Heritage auction appearances reveals that the cud-less and dual cud die states are about equal in rarity, while the intermediate single cud die state of the Bass specimen (currently in the ANA museum) is very rare. This orange-tinted example is sharply struck and has little highpoint wear. Minor reverse field marks are of little consequence.
