Just one die pair is known for the 1800 eagles, and at one time the date was considered scarce or rare due to its limited mintage of 5,999 coins, but today it is recognized as an available issue. At one time Walter Breen considered this date to be a rarity in Mint State, and David Akers called it underrated. Although Mint State examples are still elusive, quite a number of AU grade pieces are known, and examples are usually available for a price.
