17th to early 18th century stiletto, with finely carved ivory hilt of nude woman with jewelry and original scabbard. The dagger measures 9-1/4” overall with approx. 5-1/2” triangular blade. The blade is in good to very good condition with just some minor erosion and pinprick pitting and some staining developing. The hilt is good showing a crack in the ivory, the carving of very good quality showing some slight wear at the edges. The lady is wearing an earring with a stone drop. The original scabbard is retained and shows silver throat and tip. Scabbard is good with some cracking, small losses and normal aging. The carving may well be from the master Dutch carvers located in Mastricht, but we cannot absolutely identify it other than European 1650-1725. Hugh Hayes Collection. Est: $1,000 - $3,000
