This is an exceptional early Damascus hand sword with hand carved bird effigy handle and silver accents. The handle also shows an i.vory and black onyx eye. The blade has the richest forged Damascus iron blade showing wonderful craftsmanship and detail. The hilt shows bird effigy’s all in silver with the scabbard having hand etched silver accents. These swords are characterized by distinctive patterns of banding and mottling reminiscent of flowing water. Such blades were reputed to be tough, resistant to shattering and capable of being honed to a sharp, resilient edge. The sword comes with a its original beautiful sheath. The handle of the blade depicts a stunningly carved eagle head with ivory and black onyx eyes. The condition of the piece is good for its age. Measures: 28" L x 22 1/2" Blade Length
