17th century or earlier Central European axe head with no shaft. The cutting edge measures approximately 8” and 7 ¾” from the edge to the back. The blade shows typical keyhole cut out and reinforced hammer piece on the back with a wellstruck makers mark. These were used as battle weapons by peasants and as a tool to cut wood in peace time.
