17th century armor helmet showing to makers marks on the brim (Augsburg or Nuremberg) with Victorian era fancy etched decoration and replacement to back neck piece which is ornamented to match. The helmet is made properly being hammered and forged. Shows replacement straps and in very good condition. During the 19th century Spitzer and several large firms decorated and re-created armor for the great halls of Europe. Plain armory made and issued helmets were not very attractive soover 100 years ago quality workmen ornamented this type helmet and armor. Consider the cost of acid etching a helmet like this today, if an artist would attempt it for less than $5,000 we would be shocked. Est.: $1500-$3000
