<B>1799 S$1 XF40 NGC.</B></I> B-8, BB-165, R.3. Die State II. Reiver Die State b. Inside point of star 10 doubled; N over inverted N. The reverse has N of UNITED first punched upside down, and a stray line between the base of N and I is diagnostic for this die, and thus the variety as this reverse was not used for any other 1799 die marriages. This is an intermediate die state, equivalent to B-8a, with a die crack through star 7 and the centers of LIB. This is the usually seen die state of this variety. Pewter surfaces are accented with blue and iridescent toning near the borders. Lighter gray color is evident on the highpoints of the design. Minor surface marks as usual.
