<B>1799 S$1 VF30 ANACS.</B></I> B-14, BB-167, R.3. Die State II. This variety is typically identified by two die flaws in the right obverse field at eye level, and small die flaws below the AM on the reverse, although the obverse die flaws on this specimen are quite weak and barely visible, a function of light wear the coin has received. This example represents a plentiful early die state before the reverse die crack formed to connect the tops of AME. The B-14 is considered a plentiful variety, although it is most often found with considerable wear. Probably not more than a dozen pieces grade AU or finer, with the typical example rated about VF20. Essentially pale violet with darker steel color at the borders.
