The surfaces are roughened on each side by extensive contact and handling as a jewelry piece. However, we see no evidence of mounting or other damage done by its use at one time in jewelry. If such evidence is on the coin, it must be on the edge. The piece is also unnaturally bright, indicating a past cleaning.
