There is no die chip between the U and N in UNITED. 17 in the date are close, star 9 touches Y, and star 13 is distant from the bust. On the reverse a star is away from the beak but points toward the opening, and the first A in AMERICA touches feathers 3 and 4. A heavy die crack run along the rear of Liberty's cap through star 8 and to the rim. Another runs from star 3 downward to curl 2. Another runs irregularly through the L, another joins RTY, and another runs from the edge to IBERTY and through stars 9, 10, and 11. The reverse shows a tiny die lump below the U.<BR> Although lightly cleaned, likely many years ago, this coin possesses astonishing appeal as a collectible example of this rare variety, of which Bass-Dannreuther estimates that 35 to 45 pieces exist today.
