1799[$10] Small Stars Obverse AU53 PCGS.
1799<$10> Small Stars Obverse AU53 PCGS. Breen 6838, B.3-C, Taraszka-17, High R.6. It is generally the popularity of the Capped Bust Right Eagle as a type rather than overall rarity that accounts for strong selling prices of extant 1799 examples. After all, this date (37,449 pieces produced) is the most common of the series along with the 1801. It is believed that all of the 1799 dated Eagles were struck between May 14, 1799 and September 4, 1800. Breen contends that about 2% of the original mintage survive. This lightly circulated example is apricot-gold in color, with slightly darker shadings on the motifs. The design elements are nicely centered on the planchet, and fairly well impressed. The dentilation shows on both sides, though it appears to be stronger along the upper and right borders on both the obverse and reverse. A few small, trivial marks occur on each side, but none are bothersome. Population: 11 in 53, 87 finer (7/04).

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
