Bowers writes, "the die could not have survived long beyond this point." A hole near 12 o'clock has been plugged, with the ERT in LIBERTY and the tail feathers partly re-engraved. Liberty's cheek is also repaired, and the piece is granular and slightly bright from whizzing.
