1798/97 10C 16 Stars on Reverse AU58 NGC. JR-1, R.3. A late die state with the dies clashed, lapped, and clashed again, especially on the obverse. It is generally believed that this variety represents the first use of the obverse die prior to production of the 13 Stars overdate variety, JR-2. The obverse die has heavy clash marks in the field near Liberty's chin, and an incuse star along Liberty's upper bust line. This die is lightly bulged, and has been heavily lapped. The lowest curl is merely a fragment, the curl near star 1 is almost entirely missing, and the hair curls on top of Liberty's head are similarly fragmented. Although the central obverse and reverse design features are weakly defined, there is little evidence of actual wear on either side. Both sides have brilliant silver color with frosty mint luster. Aside from a few wispy hairlines, the surfaces are exceptional for their quality.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
