1798/97<10C> 13 Stars on Reverse. JR-2, R.6. VG8 NGC. Silvery-gray toning on the high points deepens to gunmetal gray in the fields. The overdate feature is bold and the 13 reverse stars are engraved in something referred to by Walter Breen as a "cross-star" arrangement as seen on the Great Seal. Identifiable by a minor scratch through the first S of STATES to the rim, and the tops of UNITED are worn into the rim. This is the usual die state with a star sharply clashed at the base of Liberty's neck in the field. For the grade, this is a particularly nice coin, with no real surface problems or distractions, quite unusual for this rare issue. Walter Breen described the variety as "Very Rare" in his Complete Encyclopedia.
Ex: George Ramont (May 1984). Envelope Included.
