1798 $1 Pointed 9, 10 Arrows AU55 NGC. B-13, BB-108, R.3. An example in the typically seen Die State II. Bowers notes that the obverse die of this variety was temporarily taken out of service to strike examples of BB-109, then remarried to BB-108 in a later state (Die State III). This richly toned example is dripping with luster and, as such, of premium quality for the assigned grade. Light amber-rose toning terminates in gray-blue hues at the peripheries. Previously sold as lot 2453 from the March 1990 Boyd, Brand & Ryder sale by Bowers and Merena (auction tag included). A stunning piece that is sure to elicit strong bids.
From The John Stimson, Sr. Collection, Part One.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
