<B>1798 $1 Large Eagle, Wide Date AU53 NGC.</B></I> B-20, BB-102, R.5. Die State IV with a cud at 6 o'clock on the reverse and a heavy die break beneath the right scroll end. The shape of the reverse die undoubtedly contributes to the rarity of B-20. Bowers estimates only 75 to 125 survivors across all grades, only 2 to 4 pieces in AU, and none in Mint State.<BR> This is a splendid Heraldic Eagle dollar without the scratches or rim marks that so often accompany examples of the series. The highpoints are slate-gray, and contrast mildly with the pearl-gray fields and deep blue-gray borders.
