<B>1797 Samuel Hodgdon Autograph Letter Signed</B></I> “<I>Samuel Hodgdon</B></I>”. One page, 8” x 13”, Philadelphia, January 6, 1797, to Colonel David Henley, Knoxville, Western Territory, with integral address leaf. Samuel Hodgdon served much of his career as Quartermaster General of the army and during the period this letter was written, Superintendent of Military Stores. In this bright, bold and legible letter Hodgdon informs Col. Henley that two wagons “<I>laden with Indian Baggage</B></I>” were heading his way and that “<I>By the return of these Waggons sic I wish you to send me the Fox skins requested in a former letter…12 of the best silver grey and the same number of the more beautiful red ones-both are intended for family use…</B></I>”.
