1797 H10C XF40 PCGS. V-3, LM-3, R.5. After V-1, V-3 is the rarest die marriage of the 1797 Half Dime. The present lot offers a lightly circulated representative whose devices retain plenty of sharp striking definition. The upper left reverse wreath is a little softly impressed, a feature shared by the plate coin in the 1998 book Federal Half Dimes: 1792-1837 by Logan and McCloskey. Both sides are predominantly dove-gray in color, although we do note some electric-blue outlines around many of the devices. There are scattered distractions on both sides, some of which are moderate, but the outward appearance of this coin is quite pleasing for an early silver coin that saw 20 points of wear. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
