1797 1C Reverse of 1797, Stems XF45 NGC. S-134. B-4, H 1797[1C] Reverse of 1797, Stems. S-134, B-4,
1797<1C> Reverse of 1797, Stems. S-134, B-4, High R.3. XF45 NGC. VF35 EAC. Die State IV. This coin has a die crack connecting the 9 and last 7 in the date. There is bulging near the date and lower back curls, with die rust present. There is a die chip in the field before Liberty's throat. Two reverse die cracks above (M)E have joined. This lovely example is well detailed for the grade and struck on a glossy, medium-brown planchet. Examination with a glass shows a light scrape before Liberty's face, with a minute dig above T in LIBERTY. There are no mentionable marks on the hair, face, or neck, and excellent delineation at the demarcation between hairline and forehead. This coin is extremely well centered, with all dentilation showing on the obverse. The reverse dentilation is weak in the lower left quadrant. A lovely and largely problem-free representative of this variety. We do not find this example listed in the Census by either Bland or Noyes, but it probably ranks in the top dozen for the variety.
Ex: Redell-Smith (10/28/1957). Envelope Included.
