1797 $10 Large Eagle--Reverse Rim Damage--NCS. AU Details. Breen-6835, Taraszka-11, BD-3, R.5. This variety is most readily attributed by the lack of a star below the eagle's beak. Rather, star 12 is positioned to the left of the eagle's beak. While NCS has opined that this piece has reverse rim damage, the main disturbance on the reverse rim we see is between OF and AMERICA. In our opinion, that is either a narrow cud or die crumbling. There is a short file mark over the A in AMERICA that may be mint-created, but it also might be the source of the disclaimer by NCS. Sharply struck, the surfaces have bright yellow-gold color and there is significant remaining luster. A coin that should be examined by specialists as the rim crumbling is not mentioned in Harry Bass' notebook.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
