<B>1797 1/2 C Plain Edge--Scratched--Uncertified. MS60 Details.</B></I> C-2, B-2, R.3. Only three varieties of 1797 half cents are known, and each has a distinctive obverse. This Cohen-2 variety is the most "perfect" of the three, with a well-centered head and only one 1 in the date. The scratches are generally light and mostly located on the obverse near the portrait, with a pinscratch from 1 o'clock to the E in CENT visible on the reverse under scrutiny. None has an undue effect on the eye appeal of this coin, a pleasing chocolate-brown piece with full details and more than a little remaining luster. Unusually sharp for this issue, which is usually found well-circulated.
