1796 S-95 R5+ Draped Bust PCGS graded AU50Glossy golden tan and light brown with steel brown toning on the highpoints. Sharp and attractive with mint frost in the protected areas on both sides, but there are some small contact marks. A pair of small but obvious dull rim nicks left of the lowest curl, a nick on the right top of the T in CENT, and a dozen very tiny rim nicks around the reverse (none significant but too many to ignore) are the notable marks. LDS, Breen state II, with die clashmarks at ERTY and to the right. Graded VF35 and CC#3 in the Bland census. Noyes says EF45 net VF35 and CC#3, his photo #32362. Our grade is VF35. Only 8 are known that grade better than VG making this a very difficult variety to get in a higher grade, and the majority are net graded to adjust for defects. Another great cent in this wonderful collection.Certificate Number: 35819.50/57516985Pedigree: Ex Stack's 12/1977:1250-Dr. C. R. Chambers-Dennis Mendelson 7/15/1991-R. S.
