Sharpness VF20 but the surfaces are covered with fine to moderate roughness mixed with a few small pits, and there are traces of greenish verdigris at the dentils over the second A in AMERICA where there is a deep pit. A short hairline scratch extends through the base of Y in LIBERTY. Rather glossy olive brown and chocolate with splashes of reddish light chocolate brown on both sides. The date and legends are all bold. Great detail but not attractive. Nonetheless this was the best example of the variety in the famous Holmes collection. MDS, Breen state III. A fine die crack extends through the tops of RTY. Ex Chris McCawley 2/27/1997-Daniel W.
