Sharpness EF40 with traces of extremely fine roughness and microscopic specks of verdigris on both sides. The only areas of roughness visible without the aid of a good glass are a small patch under the I in LIBERTY and some more around the bust tip, but neither of these areas is a distraction. The only real distraction is the blotchy toning, which is a mix of rather glossy chocolate, reddish chocolate, and darker olive brown. Nicely struck EDS, Breen die state I. Called VF35 and tied for CC#2 in the Bland/Breen condition census. Noyes says net VF25 and tied for CC#2 as well, his photo #31781. Either way this is a very important example of a tough die variety.
