Glossy medium brown with chocolate brown toning in the obverse fields. The surfaces are smooth, free of any hint of corrosion or planchet defects. The only notable marks are a small, light rim bruise just under the hair ribbon, a pair of nicks under OF, and a curved light scratch from the right loop of the wreath ribbon to the wreath stem right of T in CENT. The date is strong, although the bottoms of the digits are starting to blend into the rim below, and the legends are strong except for ONE CENT, which is gone thanks to swelling in the center of the reverse. Late die state, the obverse die cracks and reverse swelling advanced. A new discovery of this extremely rare variety, tied for CC#3 of only 8 known, and the finest of those is impounded in the ANS Museum. A very important cent for the advanced collector.
