1796 25C Fine 15 PCGS. High 6. B-2, R.3. Die State II as described in the Breen revision of Browning. The obverse die is quite near its terminal die state on this coin, with prominent die cracks. One connects the bottoms of ERTY with stars 9, 10, and the rim. A second runs from the rim above B through the top of E and the middles of RT before joining the first. A third runs from the rim above E to join the tops of RTY with the rim above star 9. A fourth crack connects the bottom of I with the top of Liberty's head. Although this piece was clearly struck from late in the life of the single die for this variety, the piece shows a satisfying level of detail that approaches Very Fine on the reverse. The coin is well centered and shows full dentilation on both sides, and the dove-gray surfaces show a minimum of distractions. An appealing coin for a quality-conscious collector who also has budgetary concerns.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
