1796 25C --Damaged--NCS. Fine Details. High 6. B-2, R.3. Countermarked O.G. on the reverse. This piece has a deeply punched countermark at the center of the reverse. The obverse has some minor evidence of a mounting that has been removed. Perhaps this coin saw service as a brooch or pin. Both sides retain considerable detail, and the surfaces have attractive grayish-lilac color. We have been unable to find any further identification of the initials, and suspect that they represent a former owner's initials. As a one-year type coin, and the first year of production for the denomination, examples of this issue survive in a wide range of quality, and always find ready buyers.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
