1796 $10 XF40 PCGS.
1796 $10 XF40 PCGS. B. 1-A, Taraszka-6, R.4. Only a single die pairing was used this year. Although its mintage of 4,146 pieces is similar to that of the 1795, the 1796 eagle is a far more difficult coin to locate in all grades. Apparently, the novelty of the new Ten Dollar gold coin had subsided significantly enough by 1796 to ensure that most examples of this issue entered circulation and remained there. This issue has the added desirability among modern collectors as being the only 1795-1804 eagle with 8 stars left and 8 right. This is a well detailed, green-gold survivor whose surfaces show the normal number of small abrasions for a circulated gold coin of this size. Both sides show ample remaining definition that testifies to the care with which this coin was produced. The fields glow with an attractive brightness at select angles. A find for either the date or advanced type collector. Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
