<B>1795 S$1 Flowing Hair, Two Leaves Fine 12 ANACS.</B></I> B-4, BB-14, R.3. Star 15 completely below bust; single tail berry, leaf tip below inner right base of A in STATES. Die State I with perfect dies as always. The obverse die was only used for this B-4 variety, therefore the "hidden star" characteristic is a diagnostic attribution point. This variety may be borderline R.4 with about 200 to 250 examples known, although some have estimated the surviving population at a higher number. A nice coin for the grade due to the even strike and wear the coin has experienced, all this presented on a surface pleasantly toned to a medium gray-brown. Each side has a few faint scratches, with a small prick below the eagle's right wing. Plenty of detail remains, with full obverse denticles and partial reverse denticles. The strong or high obverse border helped to preserve the existing detail, thus many survivors are in higher grades than most 1795 varieties. A few examples of this variety are known on silver-plugged planchets, and one example is known struck over a 1794 dollar.
