This <I>rare</B></I> Washington token is listed in the catalog <I>Medallic Portraits of Washington,</B></I> second edition, by Russ Rulau and George Fuld; about nine pieces are known. Described in the reference catalog: Uniformed bust left GEORGE WASHINGTON. around Rv: Spade-shaped shield, divided per pale, seven pales in gules (red) in dexter, 15 mullets (stars) in sinister. The crest is a scrawny eagle displayed, clutching olive branch and three arrows. Around: LIBERTY AND SECURITY. Edge Lettered: AN ASYLUM FOR THE OPPRESS'D OF ALL NATIONS.<BR> There is a small planchet lamination at the 1 o'clock position that takes some of the luster away from this American rarity. A personal inspection of this important and historical piece is suggested.
