<B>1795 H10C AU50 NGC.</B></I> V-5, LM-8, R.3. The Flowing Hair design, most often associated with the silver dollars and half dollars of the time, appeared on one other denomination: the half dime. The handcrafted dies for this denomination were just as idiosyncratic as those of any other, and this variety is distinguished by a die crack that runs through the Y in LIBERTY and a spike that protrudes from the wreath and points between the first T and A of STATES. Rings of emerald, blue, and violet surround peach-toned centers, and soft luster appears beneath the patina. Only minor wear is evident on each side, and while the fine details of the hair and feathers are lost, the outlines are strong, and the overall effect of the strike is pleasing.
