<B>1795 $1 Flowing Hair, Silver Plug--Improperly Cleaned--NCS. AU Details.</B></I> B-7, BB-18, R.3. Bowers-Borckardt Die State I with two small die flaws beneath the left ribbon end. Mint-made silver plugs are known on several varieties of Flowing Hair dollars. A small central hole was made in the planchet, and the plug added, presumably to bring the weight of the planchet within standards. The strike effaced most evidence of the plug, identifiable as a small oval gray area on the eagle's breast and a slightly glossy corresponding area beneath Liberty's ear.<BR> This is a cream-gray and tan-gold example that has substantial definition within the eagle's plumage. The eagle's breast has moderate wear, as do the curls near Liberty's ear.
