1795 50C 2 Leaves VG10 PCGS. O-123b, Low R.7. The obverse has two short die cracks below the shoulder. The reverse has a heavy die crack at S OF, reaching the border near A, and a branch to the border left of O. The area above the main crack and left of the branch crack appears to form a full rim break, while the area above the main crack and right of the branch forms a retained cud. This is a fascinating study piece for the die state enthusiast.
While as many as nine examples of the O-123 die marriage are currently known, this variety is apparently unique with the reverse rim break.
Both sides have deep pewter surfaces with no readily visible imperfections. This is an attractive, wholesome example of this apparently unique die state, and one that was not represented in the Jules Reiver Collection.
Haseltine-29; Beistle 16-Xa; Overton-49; Hilt 12-I; PCGS# 6052; Encyclopedia-4556.
Ex: Michael Summers (2/2005).
From The Westmoreland County Collection of Early Bust Halves, 1794-1807.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
