1795 50C 2 Leaves VG10 PCGS
1795 50C 2 Leaves VG10 PCGS. O-107a, R.5. An early die state of O-107a with a bisecting reverse crack between 2:30 and 8:30. (The rare O-107 prime lacks the die crack at 8:30.) The crack is most apparent on the T in UNITED, and is also visible beneath the eagle's left (facing) wing. The crack resumes in the field between OF and AMERICA, but is faint within this area.
The obverse die is resurrected from O-106, and is an essentially identical state, with a noticeable vertical die crack through the E in LIBERTY, and barely visible die cracks through the 1 in the date and from 5 o'clock to the bust. The ridge is prominent across the date and stars 13 to 15. The ridge continues from star 12 toward the forehead, although this portion is faint.
The present example features deep lilac, apple-green, and yellow toning. A few small marks are noted above the left stand of the eagle, but the surfaces are generally smooth for the grade. The devices possess partial hair and feather detail, and more than half of the dentils are clear. All legends are sharp except for the TE in UNITED and the final A in AMERICA, which are slightly faded.
Haseltine-28; Beistle 1b-Eb; Overton-15; Hilt 20-U; PCGS# 6052; Encyclopedia-4560.
Ex: Michael Summers (12/2004).
From The Westmoreland County Collection of Early Bust Halves, 1794-1807.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
