<B>1795<50C> 2 Leaves VG10 PCGS.</B></I> O-113, R.3. A large diagnostic die lump resides between the 5 in the date and star 15. The A in STATES is recut over an E, one of several varieties within the early American series that demonstrate the difficulty of engraving working dies by hand. The dies are a mirror image of the struck coin; legends must be entered backwards. This nicely detailed piece has a rich blanket of battleship-gray, olive, and lavender toning. Minor marks near the chin are of little consequence.
