1795 50C 2 Leaves VF35 ANACS. O-113a, R.4. This is the late die state for this variety. The "broken patch" between the date and star 15 has become larger, and is now connected to the tip of Liberty's bust and, faintly, to the lower right edge of 5. Blunt die cracks also occur now between stars 12 through 15, and a die crack extends along the top of LIBERTY. The reverse displays a plethora of interesting characteristics that include die chips near and between STATES and UNITED; a distinctly granular texture to the surfaces just below the eagle's wings; a spindly die crack that extends along the bottom of the eagle's rock; and several faint die clash marks above the eagle's head and left (facing) wing, as well as below the wing.
The obverse is toned in pastel shades of blue-green and rose, with tan color on the highpoints. The reverse shows a dappled arrangement of gold, amber, steel-green, and brown patina. The central devices are evenly worn and there are no severe marks on either side of this pleasing Choice VF example.
Haseltine-5; Beistle 5a-I; Overton-32; Hilt 15-Q; PCGS# 6052; Encyclopedia-4559.
Ex: Harry Laibstain.
From The Westmoreland County Collection of Early Bust Halves, 1794-1807.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
