<B>1795 50C 2 Leaves VF20 PCGS.</B></I> O-109, R.4. O-108 and O-109 share the same obverse die. According to the fourth edition of Overton, O-109 was struck after O-108. This assertion is probably in error, since the die damage near star 1 is absent, yet there is no evidence of die lapping to remove the defects. Also, the die crack through star 15 to the bust tip is fainter than that seen on O-108a. The die crack between stars 12 and 13 is faint, and there is no die crack visible between stars 3 and 5.<BR>Presumably, O-109 was struck first, and the obverse die was damaged near star 1 while in storage or during its preparation to coin O-108. The reverse die appears perfect except for faint clash marks above and to the left of the left (facing) wing. <BR>This Flowing Hair half dollar has dusky gunmetal-gray toning. The obverse is slightly lighter than the reverse. A small area of silver-white is present on the E in AMERICA. The dentils are sharp throughout, and all peripheral letters are bold. Liberty has plentiful curls, and several feathers are partially present on the eagle's right wing.
