1795/1795 50C VF25 ICG. O-112a, R.4. Late die state with a thick die crack that extends from the upper obverse rim between ER, angling down to the top of Liberty's head--reappearing on this example beneath the ear and attached to it just above the earlobe. The date is double punched, with the first entry very low, and corrected such that the second placement leaves the final date position much higher. The lower halves of the numerals from the first date position show clearly beneath, touching the border. BE in LIBERTY is also recut.
A pleasing, natural appearance is presented on each side, with toning variations that range from pearl-gray and sky-blue to turquoise and golden-brown near the borders. Numerous wispy hairlines reside on the obverse; fewer are noted on the reverse. The highpoints of the design exhibit an appropriate degree of wear for the grade.
PCGS# 6055; Encyclopedia-4562.
Ex: Harry Laibstain (1/2002).
From The Westmoreland County Collection of Early Bust Halves, 1794-1807.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
