1795 $1 Draped Bust, Off Center XF45 NGC. B-14, BB-51, R.2. The so-called "Off Center" or "uncentered bust," the latter a better term for the variety, as it is only the bust of Liberty that is off center, not the coin on the planchet. The image of the bust and the eagle were entered by means of a device punch, with the date, lettering, and additional details added or finished by hand. When Robert Scot, or his assistant, aligned the obverse punch on the die face, it was too far right of center, and this die eventually produced these coins with the bust uncentered to the left. This is a pleasing medium gray-brown example with natural silver surfaces, lighter on the devices. Choice surfaces for the grade, essentially free of imperfections.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
