Large Cents 1794 S-48 R5 G4+. Starred Reverse. <b>The obverse is slightly better than the reverse, as usual. The obverse sharpness is at least G6 but there are four light rim bruises, strongest at LI, and some light nicks scattered about plus a small planchet chip in the field under the chin. The date and LIBERTY are clear. The reverse is weaker, especially on the right side, as usual. There is a rim dent under the right side of the fraction and a lighter one at CA. The stars are clearly visible at the dentils from CA clockwise to the second S in STATES, except for the ones at the rim bump under the fraction. Nice glossy light to medium brown. M-LDS, the reverse lightly buckled across from rim to rim. This is the plate coin used to illustrate the Good-5 grade in Tom Morley's book on the 1794 cents. Pete smith lists this piece as coin 4C in his book on Starred Reverse cents.
