Large Cents 1794 S-57 R1 PCGS graded Mint State-63 Brown. Head of 1794. Frosty bluish steel brown with attractive satiny mint luster covering both sides and hints of very faded mint red in a few protected areas of the obverse. There is a small splash of reddish brown toning in the center of the cap and a slightly larger one on the left side of the O in ONE. This larger spot contains a shallow planchet void that touches the left side of that O, possibly where a small patch of light verdigris was removed. Otherwise this cent is choice. M-LDS. Called AU55 and tied for CC#5 in the Noyes census. Bland says MS60 and tied for CC#3. The obverse is plated in the Tom Morley grading guide for 1794 cents as the MS60 example. We say net AU58+. A beautiful, highly lustrous 1794 cent regardless. Ex New Netherlands Coin Co. 12/57:957-Harold Bareford 9/13/85-Herman Halpern, Stack's 3/16/88:76-Tony Terranova-R. E.
