1794 H10C MS63 PCGS. V-4, LM-4, R.4. A leaf tip is under the left side of the U in UNITED, and one berry is under the I, promptly diagnosing the LM-4 die pairing. More classically stated, there are three inner berries under the left wing, and no outer berries under that wing. Although designated as R.4, Logan and McCloskey note in Federal Half Dimes 1792-1837 that this is the "most common of the four 1794 die marriages." Bold clash marks appear on each side. This piece offers breathtaking, original mint-green, aqua, and pinkish-gray patina. While the surfaces are suggestive of a finer grade, a well-hidden scrape appears between STATES and OF on the reverse, and perhaps the luster that is somewhat subdued by the intense color precludes an MS64.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information\)
