1794 H10C AU55 PCGS. V-4, LM-4, R.4. Most easily attributable by three berries inside the left wreath and none on the outside. Research has shown that this variety was undoubtedly struck in early 1795, and indeed all 1794 half dimes were most likely included in the shipment of 7,756 pieces that were delivered on March 30, 1795. The fact that this piece is AU55 and several Mint State coins are also known of this variety suggests that V-4s may have been a part of the Wadsworth-Rea hoard. From a numismatic standpoint this is a very interesting coin. The side-by-side centering dots on the obverse are surrounded by a couple of distinct circles that pass through the earlobe and Liberty's hair. Heavily die clashed, the surfaces show a significant amount of mint luster still. Lightly marked, the only mentionable surface flaw is a long diagonal scratch on the reverse. Medium density golden-brown, rose, and olive toning is seen on each side of this attractive, high grade example.
