1794 1C Head of 1794 MS62 Brown NGC. S-22, R.1. A
1794<1C> Head of 1794 MS62 Brown NGC. S-22, R.1. An earlier die state with no trace of the mounds above ONE, as usually seen. This common variety is most easily attributed by the sharply bent sixth lock of Liberty's hair on the obverse, and the left ribbon being severed from the knot. EAC net graded AU50 by Del Bland, and considered to be firmly in the Condition Census for the variety. The surfaces have a very pleasing glossy brown sheen and there are no noticeable or detracting marks other than a few scattered tiny planchet flakes on the lower half of the obverse, and a near-vertical mark by the U in UNITED.
From Europe to Thomas L.
