1794<1C> Head of 1793. S-17a, B-1a, Low R.5--Environmental Damage--NCS. VF Details. VG7 EAC. The 1794 Head of '93 Cents continued the original design by Joseph Wright, with minor modifications. The main modification to the design comprised the border elements, which now consist of dentils rather than beads. This is an early die state, either State I or State II per the descriptions by Walter Breen. There appears to be evidence of a bulge between Liberty's head and the letter L. Surface quality does not permit an exact determination. The surfaces are lightly corroded with dark olive color. A few smoothed areas are visible on both sides, particularly on the cap. The reverse has a small rim bruise below the right ribbon end. Although clearly not a Condition Census example, this is an important and desirable piece.
Ex: W.E. Johnson (3/21/1958); John A.
